Could not have asked for a more gorgeous weekend. Truly perfect, weather-wise.
Currently not eating avocado (boo!), so this broccomole was the next best thing to eating guacamole. Recipe coming soon.
Crossed “visit a waterfall” off our Summer Bucket List. This one was pretty awesome, though this Mom would seriously appreciate a little perimeter fencing along the cliff. Just sayin’.
Also crossed off “summer reading” as the kids collected $10 from TD Bank for reading ten books.
A smothered burger? Pretty much my favorite kind.
Last week, this happened. Madeline crossed a really big thing off our Summer Bucket List, and I was bursting with pride for her. Mostly because I can take zero credit for it. This was the third time I have taken her out to practice riding her bike without training wheels. The first time ended in tears, because she was frustrated that she wasn’t getting it. Sometimes she’s too hard on herself, wanting everything to be perfect from the onset. We took a break, and went out again last week. She wouldn’t let me hold her bike. Or push her. I wasn’t allowed to encourage her. I was pretty much just the chauffeur to take her and her bike to an empty lot. And within about forty-five minutes, she had it. And you could see her pride splashed all across her face. And, of course, the first request for the next day was to go bike riding. She did it all on her own. Which is exactly how she wanted it.
I was much older than Maddie when I learned how to ride a bike without training wheels so good for her! It really was the perfect weekend for it!

This was a beautiful weekend, which your photos so clearly reflect! Wish I could have spent more time outdoors, though I was cooped up at a bachelorette party. :)

How exciting for Madeline!! She has to be bursting with pride!
Love those pics from your trip to the waterfall! Makes me want to go, too!
Will taught himself to ride his bike too! He just mastered it on Sept. 1 (a date I only remember because it’s my husband’s birthday). Way to go, Madeline!
