Although we’re not hosting Thanksgiving this year, we have done it enough in the past that we have amassed quite a few tried-and-true easy and delicious recipes over the years. If you’re still doing some fine-tuning to your own Thanksgiving menu, I have a few suggestions for side dishes and desserts, along with a few simple decor items that are kid-friendly to boot.
Decor
Regular readers know that our Thanksgiving Gratitude Tree is a favorite of mine. Quietly impactful.
Cute little place cards I made a few years ago using scraps of paper.
The Give Thanks banner that Nick made one afternoon.
Side Dishes
Sweet Potato Souffle – I first made this one two years ago for our Bloggers Apres Thanksgiving Feast. Oh how I wish I could have it this year (no sweet potatoes for me), but I can live vicariously through you. You won’t regret making this one. Amazeballs.
Cranberry Conserve officially made me love cranberries many years ago, and I bet it will make a believer out of you.
Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes are smooth and creamy and everything mashed potatoes should be.
Cranberry Broccoli Salad is super colorful, with a nice crunch, and very simple to pull together.
Emeril’s stuffing is a go-to, although I usually leave out the oysters since my family doesn’t care for them.
Dessert
Caramel Apple Cheesecake is one of those awesome, sneak-attack desserts because it looks like it took you hours and hours to make, when, in fact, it didn’t. Delicious, even if you’re not a huge cheesecake fan.
Many years ago, my Mom made Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Gingerbread Trifle and it remains one of my favorites.
And lastly, if you have leftover cranberries, this post has tons of great recipes to help you use them up in no time flat.
So much good Thanksgiving inspiration here! Now I”m thinking now I should make that sweet potato souffle…
