We finally FINALLY had our first snow of the season, and boy did Mother Nature make up for it. I can’t remember a time where the snow has ever started this late in the season, but we were whalloped with over TWO FEET of snow.
Craziness.
It was billed at the number two worst storm in NYC history, and I am really glad it came through on the weekend, giving everyone a little extra time to dig out. Since we all had plenty of advance notice with Winter Storm Jonas, if you took heed to the weathermen, our gas tank was full, as was our refrigerator, and we took the opportunity to hunker down and didn’t budge all weekend. Extra family time was perfect.
And being housebound all weekend meant I was in the kitchen for most of it. Why does that always happen? I’m not complaining one bit though. The kids were sledding and shoveling, and my job was to keep the crew fed. I made Confetti Cookies (above), Chocolate Chip Cookies, multiple batches of silver dollar pancakes, deviled eggs, homemade mayo, grilled cheese… and I don’t remember what else.
It was all sorts of awesome.
It’s possible that while we were stocking up on groceries, we also made sure we were supplied with ice cream. #priorities
