Working on your Game Day menu? I have a few of our favorite recipes to share with you.
Whether it’s a small dinner party, a holiday celebration, or the upcoming Super Bowl, one thing is certain … my favorite part of the menu are the appetizers. I love “picky food,” and any excuse to make it and have it, is alright by me. And, of course, with the big game this weekend, we’ll pull out all the stops.
But let’s be clear.
It’s just about the food, friendship, and commercials.
In fact, Madeline asked me a few days ago who was playing, and I had to google it.

She actually knew more about it than me, which isn’t terribly surprising.
Since you very well may be planning your OWN Game Day festivities, I wanted to highlight a few of our favorite, tried-and-true appetizer recipes … more importantly, recipes that are delicious but simple. Which is exactly the criteria I’m looking for when I’m working on filling up the table with lots of yummy options. Because when the recipes are simple, you can make more. And … the more food, the better. 
First up is a recipe for Australian-Style Sausage Puffs. Slightly elevated from something like Pigs in a Blanket, they make for a nice presentation, and help provide a little extra sustenance to offset the beer drinking, KWIM?
Then, we love these Baby Bella and Sausage Crostini Bites, a recipe I created a few years ago when I was working with the folks at Jones Dairy Farm. Again, slightly classier than just serving up chips and dip, but still easy to whip up on the fly.
Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers are a MUST. I have made this recipe a million times over the past few years, and they never fail to disappoint. Addicting and SO GOOD.
A Game Day spread would be sad indeed if there was no dip, so of course we need to have some. I will happily admit to being a fan of old school Lipton Onion Dip, and make it often, but if you want something a little different, this Cheesy Hot Bacon Dip is one of our favorites too. Like, the kind where you have to stop yourself from licking the bowl clean. THAT GOOD.
We are big fans of Buffalo Chicken ANYTHING, and this baked version of Baked Buffalo Chicken Meatballs is a good way to hit that craving without as much guilt (Buffalo Chicken Dip is also a frequent guest at our party tables, and one of Nick’s favorites).
And lastly, if you’ve been a reader for awhile, you’ve no doubt heard me talk about these Spinach Cheese Squares. They’ve been in our family since we were kids, and never fail to disappoint. In fact, I just made a batch yesterday because Madeline had a hankering for them. Who am I not to indulge when she’s requesting SPINACH?
