So I may be a bit late but I’ve finally started

So I may be a bit late but I’ve finally started taking down Christmas decorations. I love having them up but I hate the process of putting everything up and taking it all down so… here we are on January whatever taking down the tree. 🤷🏻‍♀️#reallife This year we went with a white, gold and silver color theme for our main tree and I like it so much it may come back for another year. In the meantime, I’m trying to color code all the decoration boxes to make it easier in the future when my inspiration goes another direction. #worksmarternotharder

When Maddie saw this hat on me the other day, she said “oh that’s from the song you like!” The hat is from @atticuspoetry but yes, on the side it quotes Leave Her Wild from Tyler Rich, a song that’s in constant rotation in my car. The song came out a few years ago when I was trying to disentangle myself from an ex that, although he wanted to be with me, also wanted to change me. Back then, it served as a good reminder to stay true to who I was, despite other his nonsense. Whether it’s a personal relationship, a business one, or a friendship, stick with people who understand you and vibe with you and your soul will forever be at peace. ✨

With a big work deadline done, I’ve been counting down to a night out and here we are … everything I needed and then some.

Years ago, Kristen from @dineanddish and I were talking about books we were struggling with and we gave each other permission to stop reading a book if it just wasn’t working for us. And last week when I texted a friend to say I was really struggling with this book, she said something similar. “Life is too short to read books we don’t like.” So here we are. I got through about 75% of this book and just couldn’t anymore. I have a few folded pages and highlights of takeaways that resonated, but about a third of the way through, there was a shift. The chapters are like essays, but they flowed mostly in chronological order, until they didn’t, and that’s where it started to fall off the tracks for me. I’ll leave you with one of the quotes that will stay with me… “stop asking people for directions to places they’ve never been.” ✨ #2/52 #catesbookaweek

A few weeks ago, I noticed the new Epic Cake Mixes

A few weeks ago, I noticed the new Epic Cake Mixes from Duncan Hines. Betty White had just died and I thought baking one up and donating money to an animal shelter would be the perfect way to honor her. My tag line here has been “living life out loud” for a few years, and I feel that’s how she was too. Quick to laugh or make someone laugh, often with rated R wit, there is no denying she loved life. Although she may be gone, the gifts she left us will keep on giving for years to come. Happy 100, Betty White! ✨

He took a spontaneous trip to DC to see the sights

He took a spontaneous trip to DC to see the sights while he was home, brought me a chakra candle and crystal (he gets me!), and I had a number of one-on-one lunch and shopping trips with him during this visit, which was so awesome. Goodbyes never get easier but it’s very comforting knowing how happy he is at school … and that he’ll be back in a month for his sister’s birthday. Love you big, kiddo. xo
