October? October?! How the heck did it get to be October already?! I did pretty well making it through my Menu Plan from last week … there will be posts coming up on Mark Bittman’s Tomato Jam (amazing!) and some homemade applesauce we made with apples we picked last weekend (it doesn’t get much more local than that). It was a good eating week all around, but now, what to do for this week? Here’s the plan:
Sunday: Leftovers. The refrigerator overfloweth. Seriously. I could not fit another thing in there if I tried. I’m even storing Penne with Vodka Sauce in the vegetable bin.
Monday: If you eat at Chili’s restaurant on Monday, they are donating 100% of the profits from that day to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Eating out to support a hospital that helps kids? I can think of no better reason.
Tuesday: Supper Club! Our theme this month is Cupcakes (and I SWEAR it wasn’t me that came up with it). Will be interesting to see the sweet and savory offerings that hit the table.
Wednesday: The Sister-In-Law’s Baked Cod with Potatoes. We had this dish at her house last December, and when doing some behind-the-scenes work here on Sweetnicks over the weekend, I came across the recipe. Easy, delicious and perfect for a weeknight meal.
Thursday: Just to make sure the Sweetnicks’ kitchen remains equal to both political parties, we’re going to take a Barack Obama recipe for a run. It seems only right since we’ve now made two recipes from the Bush clan. I think Barack’s chili recipe will do just nicely.
Friday: Kitchen closed.
Saturday: I’m going to make the Sauvignon-Blanc Steamed Mussels from a few weeks ago. I’ve been craving mussels lately like nobody’s business, and that’s a great recipe to satisfy a craving with. Alongside it? Garlic Bread Fantastique. Now just to find a good salad to go with it. Suggestions? Bueller? Bueller?

P.S. Book #12. I think this is our favorite so far.
I have got to get myself to post my menu plans… that might make me stick closer to them each week. Your week sounds good to me… especially, Saturday night! Yum!!!

Thank you so much for the Monday post about eating at Chili’s Restaurant. My niece, 15 years old, just returned home from St. Jude’s after being there for a year with brain cancer. It is truly an amazing place. Thanks to everyone for supporting such a wonderful cause.
As for my niece, over the weekend she was crowned Homecoming Princess for her High School in Baltimore :)
Great looking menu! I’d love to hear more about your supper club. :D

Thanks for the reminder about Chili’s, Cate! Some girlfriends and I are going to help the cause… and maybe have a few margaritas for ourselves.
