Challenging
Explaining to Madeline why we gave the man at the grocery store money for a flower, who he was, if the flower was real or not, if it should be kept outside or in, if she should put it in her hair, where America was, what the word veteran meant, and why the old man was at the grocery store to begin with if he was fighting in the war.
Patience
For all of Maxwell’s little pain-in-the-arse antics, he knows what “stay” means, as he patiently waited nearby while I photographed cookies for a Pillsbury job.
Sweet
Said cookies. Mint Buttercream Sandwich Cookies.
Fall
Love that he matches the foliage.
Comfort
Cheeseburger Macaroni by way of Kevin and Amanda. Like Hamburger Helper, but homemade and not from a box. Bonus points if you make your own taco seasoning. Kids inhaled this one tonight.
Appreciated
One of my co-workers said she saw this scratch-and-sniff apple pie bookmark and thought of me. She gave it to me last week, thinking I could use a little cheering up since the week largely sucked sixteen ways to Friday.
Frustration
This ball was in the house less than thirty minutes on Friday afternoon, before Maxwell showed Nick what he thought of it. It’s just as well because it cut short a rant on why a teacher’s aide would give fourth graders “stress balls.” I mean, it’s cute and all, and as adults, I totally get it. But hoping that fourth graders don’t need to be working out their stress so early on in life.
Laughter
For this last one, you can head on over to my photography website.
I love this. And I am so impressed with Maxwell’s staying skills…I wouldn’t have been able to resist those cookies for that long and I have opposable thumbs.
Those cookies look delicious! And you definitely have a sweet, patient dog. I have a golden retriever and he’s pretty good about that, too; he’ll eagerly gobble up anything you give to him, but he doesn’t steal or try to secretly swipe food.
