Letter to My Daughter – Happy 7th Birthday!

Oh how I miss that baby face from age four.

I blinked and here we are.

The magic of age 7.

Just like last year, you’ve been counting down the days until your birthday.

“I can’t believe my birthday is in xx days!”

You have hardly been able to contain your excitement.

And I don’t blame you.

Because we’re celebrating YOU.

From day one, you have brought nothing but joy to our lives.

You are compassionate and empathetic, a loyal friend, and silly.

You are kind and considerate, always thinking of your brother or I before yourself.

You are beautiful, from the inside out.

You still love cheer and soccer and manicures and animals.

Especially animals.

You love the Justice store and hoard the catalogs to browse through.

You love listening to the radio and know all the words to Take Me to Church.

You have discovered the magical world of YouTube videos and will sit and watch “morning routines” and “evening routines” for way too long.

But since you have been doing that, your room is always spotless, you eat breakfast every day before school, and are ready before I am.

Which is all sorts of awesome.

But it also means you’re growing up.

One of us is not ready.

Just like the last two years, you have requested pizza and soft chocolate chip cookies for your birthday dinner (and thank goodness we finally have the PERFECT recipe for the soft chocolate chip cookies).

And then you went on to request cake and brownies as well.

Sweet tooth? What sweet tooth?

You are happy doing nothing and everything, and love hanging out at home just as much as embarking on a new adventure.

I couldn’t be more proud to be your Mom and to be a part of the journey of watching you grow up.

Happy birthday, we love you to the moon and back.
