Super simple, kid-friendly frozen tropical drink that is the perfect thing to get you through the Winter… You know, while you’re staying warm inside in front of your fireplace.
The temperatures have been downright frigid lately (hitting single digits tonight!), but this is Winter in New Jersey, so we have no business complaining. We can, however, make the best of it. I’ve discovered infinity scarves and practically live in them, we have bought countless pairs of gloves and boots, and are completely stocked up on pet-safe salt to get us through the next storm that’s heading our way this weekend (reportedly going to be the biggest of the season).
And in the meantime? We drink tropical drinks and dream of warmer weather and plan Spring Break fun and frivolity. Because while I have been doggedly determined to eek as much enjoyment as we can out of this Winter season, I am also already pining for warm weather. And what better way to do that than with a frozen tropical drink?
This Frozen Raspberry Lemonade takes just a few ingredients and a couple minutes in your blender. Alcohol-free, it is perfect to share with the kiddos. Or, you know, if you want to live on the edge, a splash of rum (Captain Morgan’s) certainly wouldn’t hurt in making it into an adult beverage.
Perfect thing to start your warm weather dreams … or to serve up while watching the Super Bowl this weekend. And speaking of Super Bowl, while I love that my home state is hosting it, whose bright idea was that? Give us the Summer Olympics. That we can handle. But a winter sport, in an open stadium, in a cold weather state? Really?
Here’s hoping those reports of the “biggest storm of the season” for this weekend are greatly exaggerated.
Until then? Drink up.

This recipe for Oprah’s Pomegranate Martini is one we make again and again. It goes down so nice and easy…

Frozen Raspberry Lemonade Cocktail
Recipe courtesy of Cate O’Malley
Ingredients
1 12 oz. can frozen lemonade
6 cups ice
3 cups water
1 12 oz bag of frozen raspberries
2 teaspoons sugar
Directions
In a blender, add the lemonade, ice, and water. Mix to combine. In a separate bowl, add the sugar to the raspberries (add more as necessary to cut the tartness and achieve desired level of sweetness). Layer the frozen lemonade with the raspberries.
Notes
Instead of layering, try putting some raspberries on just the top and bottom of your drink.
Swap out the raspberries for strawberries for another great taste.
I was compensated to create this recipe through my work with General Mills and Old El Paso.
ANOTHER storm?! Ugh, not excited. Although if I can just stay at home, with the heat cranking, slurping one of these…I would be pretty content.

Ok… now, I have to go check the forecast as I wasn’t aware the biggest storm of the season was headed our way! Yikes!
I’m all over dreaming of warmer days and if sipping on this tasty treat will transport me, I’m there!
